Easier Resort Access for Hotham - 9 May 2011
Just in time for winter: The drive to Hotham will be even easier to get to in 2011. Hotham - not content to be the Southern Hemisphere's only alpine resort with its own airport - will launch an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) resort entry system for smoother road access this winter. For the first time, Hotham visitors will be able to pre-purchase resort entry and travel straight through to Hotham, one less thing to worry about on your trip to the snow. One ticket to ski Thredbo or Perisher - 12 Apr 2011
Perisher and Thredbo unite to offer Superski. It's one of the questions we ask ourselves when planning our annual trip to the snow...which will it be; Perisher or Thredbo? Up until now, you've always had to choose one or the other when purchasing multi-day lift tickets, but in an unprecedented move for the resorts, Perisher and Thredbo have today announced a new lift ticket, that will allow skiers and snowboarders access to both resorts. The new 'SuperSki Ticket'; a five day lift ticket; will be available in the peak winter season from 25th June to 4th September and can be used within any six day period. Resorts to Introduce Mandatory Helmets - 1 Apr 2011
After an extensive review of critical injuries in the Australian snowfields the results are in, helmets save lives. It is that simple. The study was headed up by Dr Richard Kopf of the North Oppenheim Brain Society who has 31 years experience in the field of head trauma and recently concluded similar studies in Europe. Dr Kopf concluded "The research shows clearly that the simple act of wearing a helmet, when undertaking snow sport activities, will significantly reduce the instance of head trauma and death resulting from such trauma in an accident where the head strikes an immovable or highly resistive object." read more .....
QantasLink ready for Mt Hotham Ski Season - 28 Mar 2011
QantasLink announced last week it would operate its 2011 ski season services between Sydney and Mt Hotham from 24 June to 11 September. Qantas Executive Manager Regional Airlines Group, Mr Narendra Kumar, said the airline would provide 114 flights on the route over the period, as well as an additional 300 seats, linking Sydney directly with one of Australia's most popular Alpine regions.
"Victoria's skifields are among the best in Australia, and QantasLink's direct flights will again make Hotham Alpine Resort the most accessible ski resort in Australia, getting interstate skiers to the snow from Sydney in 80 minutes," Mr Kumar said. read more....
Perisher's New Ticketing System - 22 Mar 2011
In a move set to radically improve the Australian skiing and snowboarding experience, Perisher today announced plans to launch its new 'MyRide' ticketing system in late March which will see guests spending more time riding the mountain. Using a fully integrated on-line sales platform with RFID (Radio Frequency Identity) technology, the Perisher MyRide initiative will offer skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to buy their lift tickets before they leave home and reload them at the MyRide online store. Most importantly with MyRide, guests will be able to bypass the ticket office to get 'direct to lift' access meaning more time to experience Perisher's four resort areas.
Perisher Snowy Mountains of Music Festival - 17 Mar 2011

Super Pass is Back - 8 Mar 2011

Snow at Charlotte Pass - 21 Dec 2010
Christmas has come early at Charlotte Pass Alpine Resort, with overnight snowfalls. Snowfalls commenced early Sunday evening and continued heavily throughout the night. Residents & guests of Charlotte Pass Resort woke this morning to 10cm of fresh snow. "It is absolutely beautiful" said Kosciuszko Chalet Hotel Manager Michelle Lovius. "Everything is covered in a blanket of white; it looks like a Winter Wonderland. This is such a special sight to see in Australia, especially around Christmas."
The heavy snowfalls seem to have abated, however the temperature is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours with sporadic light snow flurries. Could this be the sign of a good winter ahead?
Hotham to host Cool Summer Festival - 26 Nov 2010
Hotham will be alive with the sound of music when Australia's highest independent music festival returns on February 18-20, 2011. The Cool Summer Festival line up will continue the event's tradition of catering to a fine mix of genres and quality acts and will culminate with none other than the iconic John Williamson. Having just been inducted into the ARIA hall of fame, John must be known to every Aussie around. Not only great for the kids of today, for those born in the 70s and 80s he stirs up memories of traveling in the back of Mum and Dad’s station wagon on the annual summer camping trip, singing along to ?True Blue' 20 years ago. The lineup has something for everyone with bands such as Tijuana Cartel, Nicky Bomba (from John Butler Trio), Marshall & the Fro, Abbie Cardwell, Immigrant Union (with Brent DeBoer from The Dandy Warhols), Lee Rosser and the Hussy Hicks gracing the stage over the weekend.
Thredbo extends their Season! - 23 Sep 2010 
Thredbo Alpine Resort has today announced that they will extend their Season by 1 week, so that all those die-hard ski & snowboard fans can enjoy these great spring conditions just a little more. While the full resort will not be in operation, lift ticket prices will reflect this and information on which lifts and runs will be open (weather permitting) can be found on the Thredbo website. Ski 'n Save would like to suggest that any guest wishing to take advantage of this late season skiing carefully check weather and snow conditions and make an informed choice before booking your accommodation.

Visitng during the Federal Election - 11 Aug 2010
If you are planning to be at the snow on election day, Saturday 21 August, make sure you vote before you go.
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is urging all skiers and snowboarders to vote before they travel to the snow so they can be free to enjoy the snow on election day.
Early voting centres can be found at convenient locations and some are open outside normal business hours. To find your nearest early voting centre, visit www.aec.gov.au or call 13 23 26.
Snowmaking Record Eclipsed at Perisher - 18 July 2010
Last winter Perisher produced 624,769 cubic metres of snow, in what was heralded as an amazing achievement for Australian alpine resorts. This season we have smashed that record as we have just broken through 800,000 cubic metres produced (and the guns continue, we're seeking to smash 900,000m3!); thanks to excellent snowmaking conditions. The resort's three-year $19 million investment in automated snowmaking infrastructure has really been a bonus for guests this winter.
Torah Bright New Ambassador for Perisher - 04 June 2010
Perisher is very happy to announce that Winter Olympic Gold Medallist and all-round nice person, Torah Bright has signed on to be a Perisher resort ambassador. As part of her new ambassadorial role, Torah will become the face of some of Perisher’s advertising and promotional campaigns, representing the resort where she first started snowboarding and the place she developed her amazing skills.
New Ice Skating Rink For Jindabyne 25 May 2010
Bad weather days are no longer a drag in Jindabyne with the arrival of the newest Synthetic ice skating rink to be placed at the Jindabyne Bowling Club. Opening from the June long weekend right through to October this new attraction should prove fun for both kids and adults. Perisher - First To Fire Snow Guns - 18 May 2010
Once again Perisher Ski Resort has fired up its snow guns in anticipation for the Winter 2010 Snow Season. With only 4 and half weeks until opening weekend the staff Perisher have been busy.
This year new additions include the expansion of the Mt Perisher snowmaking system providing better access from Happy Valley to Mt Perisher, as well as an extension of the Happy Valley T-bar, making the return access from Mt Perisher easier.

Mt Buller Receives Snow Flurries - 11 May 2010
The recent cold snap arrived from mother nature with a glorious dusting of snowflakes.
The cold front followed through the rest of the Victorian Resorts and up towards Thredbo, Charlotte Pass and Perisher with locals feeling the winter chill in Alpine Areas. Flights Return To The Snowy Mountains - 26 Feb 2010
Aeropelican has announced that the airline will be operating direct flights between Sydney and the Snowy Mountains Airport during the 2010 Winter snow season. Flights will commence the 11th June with daily return flights throughout the season.

Hotham Increases Snow-Making Capacity - 4 Feb 2010
New for winter 2010, Hotham Ski Resort has invested an additional $1.7 million into snow making alone!
